Gujarat has a striking absence from the nation’s top-five states generating employment opportunities for youth, and also failed to mark its presence among the top-five states where institutions generate employment of more than ₹2 lakh.
However, Ahmedabad has marked its presence in the top-ten cities preferred by male and female candidates seeking employment.
The findings were revealed in ‘India Skill Report 2023’, a report on the employment opportunities and preferences of India’s youth, was released by Wheebox, an Indian testing firm.
Gujarat consecutively under performs in terms of employment
Despite the development spree projected to the people, the report has once again not ranked Gujarat amongst the top-ten states for employment preference. Gujarat is not a preferred state for candidates in various fields like banking, finance, insurance, hospitality, automobiles, software, oil, gas, power, business process outsourcing (BPO), telecom, engineering, and other sectors.
Gujarat has failed to rank among the top-five states generating employment opportunities for youth. Moreover, the state has also failed to rank among the top-five institutions generating employment worth more than ₹2 lakh.
Despite the state having nearly 500 skill development centres, youth employment levels leave much to desire.
